This section of our website aims to provide information and resources on accessibility issues for people with disabilities of all types. It is aimed at both disabled individuals seeking information, and organisations seeking guidance to improve their organisation’s accessibility.

This section aims to grow by people contacting the panel with issues or suggestions.

What is an accessibility issue?

There are many possible issues depending on the type of disability, many of which are ‘unseen’ or not clear to many people.

Examples may be:

• A journey may appear to be accessible, if a suitable vehicle is available to visit a service which is accessible, but a high step, or blocked dropped kerb prevents the whole journey.
• A building may have good access ramps and parking but have a heavy door which can’t be opened by some people.
• Information needed by someone provided on a website may be unavailable if the website design does not allow for people with vision or learning difficulties, for example, to access that information.
