Who Are We?

The Panel is independent and is affiliated to the national โ€˜umbrellaโ€™ organisation Disability Equality Scotland (DES).

It has a membership of unpaid volunteers. The majority of the membership has a disability with additional members who have a professional experience and interest in the improvement of accessibility in Shetland

What we do. Main examples include:

  • Offer help and advice to disabled individuals or groups needing help with access issues.
  • Highlight accessibility access issues to organisations and media
  • Pass on good accessibility practise and examples
  • Help to develop or improve an organisation or business’s buildings or services.
  • Hold a resource of information, guidelines and regulations.
  • To arrange for training to provide more formal access audits in Shetland
